How to Charge Your Electric Car at the Elbsee Campground
When you arrive, check in at the front desk and let them know that you arrived in an electric car. There, you’ll receive an activation card that’s valid for the duration of your stay. Plug in your vehicle, hold the card up to the reader, and start charging—the cost of the electricity will appear on your parking bill when you check out. You don’t need an app, a roaming plan, or a charging card from another provider.
All you need to bring is your Type 2 charging cable, since—as is typical for AC charging stations—there are no permanently installed cables at the charging stations. The charging stations are located at the entrance to the campground, down by the lake—you’ll practically drive right past them when you arrive. You can’t reserve a charging spot, but with four spots, each rated at 22 kW, one is usually available. If you want to be on the safe side, charge overnight.
With a trailer, RV, or tent
The last few kilometers to Aitrang wind through meadows, forests, and moors. If you’re driving an electric car, there’s one thing you’ll hear above all else: the forest. No engine hum from a car and trailer, no roar as you climb the hill—and when you pull over at the entrance down by the lake to plug in, you’ll already feel like you’re on vacation.
After that, the car just stays put. You set up your trailer, RV, or tent on your 80 to 100 square meters of space, head to the beach, the sauna, or gather around the campfire in the evening. Charging happens in the background: no stopping in the rain at a highway charging station, no having to move your car, and no searching for an available charging station in an unfamiliar area. On the morning of your departure, you get into a fully charged car and drive off.
